Here we have an absolutely gorgeous, all original example of the 1969 Pontiac Firebird 400 4 barrel 4 speed with dual exhaust, with the original engine, original transmission and with the rare original color!

The 400 V8 in our feature car is original and solid through and through. It starts and runs with authority, and it lets you know it's ready to run. It is a smooth engine, yet with plenty enough muscle to prove it's ready for business. The 400 is a 4-barrel variety, giving that extra power when it's needed. This amazing engine is mated to a smooth shifting 4-speed manual Muncie transmission that would be equally at home in a similar year Camaro. A Hurst shifter rows the gears with precision.

This Firebird features the deluxe interior and power steering, along with power disc brakes. The seats have been reupholstered with a durable cloth in a pattern that matches the original special ordered seat covers.

The car is rolling on a set of restored, 15 inch, Pontiac Rally II wheels, with brand new BF Goodrich tires as well as new center caps, trim rings and lug nuts for a factory-correct appearance. A rust free, southern, all original body with a super slick, PPG, base-coat clear-coat exterior restoration, in the original color of Champagne Metallic.

The Firebird 400 was so named because it was optioned with the powerhouse 400 cubic inch Pontiac V8 engine. The Firebird 400 also featured a twin-scoop hood that set it off from the more ordinary Firebirds.

General Motors enjoyed much success with their F-body platform starting in 1967. Although there were two cars built on this platform, much of the public's attention focused on Chevrolet's Camaro. The fewer built, more RARE F-body twin, is the Pontiac Firebird.

By 1969, both the Camaro and Firebird had grown a bit, but were still ideally sized as "ponycars". The Firebird was viewed as a slightly more upscale model than the everyman Camaro. Many would say the Firebird was the much better looking and classier of the two.

This Firebird is ready to set fire to the road, and keep you happy while you're doing it. It has a smooth and tight ride and it handles quite well (we won't make any snarky Camaro comparisons here).
